What is Wi-Fi calling, and does it cost extra?

Wi-Fi calling lets your phone make calls and send texts over Wi-Fi when mobile signal is weak.

Wi-Fi calling uses Wi-Fi instead of mobile signal for your calls and texts, which is handy indoors, in basements or anywhere signal is patchy. It's included at no extra cost and counts like any other call.

Turning it on. Most phones that do eSIM support it and it's usually on already. If not, it's in your phone's settings under your Simp line.

What Wi-Fi do I need? A steady connection; home Wi-Fi is ideal. Public Wi-Fi works too, but some networks with login pages block it.

It doesn't make international calls free. Wi-Fi calling only changes how your calls connect, not where you can call. International calls are switched off on all Simp plans, and calls to UK numbers can't be made over Wi-Fi from outside Europe.
