What is the global roaming eSIM, and when do I use it?
It's a second, data-only eSIM for travelling outside Europe.
Simp+ and Simp Pro come with two eSIMs:
- Your UK eSIM for the UK and Europe: your number, calls, texts and data, with Europe roaming built in.
- The global roaming eSIM, a second eSIM for the rest of the world. It's data only: it doesn't come with a number, so you can't make or receive calls or texts on it. It's free to install.
When to use which. Keep the global roaming eSIM switched off in the UK. Turn it on, and set it for data, when you're outside Europe.
Switch it off, never delete it. When you don't need the global roaming eSIM, turn it off in your phone's settings. Don't delete it, just switch it off, so it's ready for your next trip without installing it again.
Need to call someone while you're away? Your AI number can call international numbers, so your simp can make the call for you from the Simp app, wherever you are.
Install it before you fly, while you're on Wi-Fi. It works from anywhere, so you can also install it after you land. Sign in and we'll walk you through it.
It connects by itself when you land in a supported country. For where it works and how much data you get, see How much can I use abroad?
