How to book rooms for a group trip

3 min read

Agree the dates and the number of rooms first, then call the hotel or holiday let and ask for rooms together, a group rate and how changes work, and get one confirmation listing every room. Or set your simp to make the call, and it asks you before agreeing to a deposit.

What your simp can't do hereYour simp books only what you asked for and asks you before agreeing to a deposit, a price or a payment. It calls only in its calling hours, in the hotel's time zone. Any call your simp is handling ends after 10 minutes.

What you can do yourself.

A weekend away, a family holiday or a wedding trip: these work for most places to stay.

  1. Step 1Agree dates and a budget

Settle the dates, the number of rooms and a rough budget a room before anyone calls.

  2. Step 2Ask for rooms together

Ask for rooms on the same floor or next to each other, and for a cot or an extra bed if you need one.

  3. Step 3Ask about a group rate

Some places price several rooms together, or ask for a deposit on group bookings. Ask before you agree.

  4. Step 4Check the arrival details

Ask about check-in times, late arrival, parking for more than one car and step-free rooms.

  5. Step 5Ask how changes work

Ask by when you can change the number of rooms or the dates, and what happens to any deposit.

  6. Step 6Get it in writing

Ask for one confirmation by email listing every room, and share it with the group.

The catch: rooms side by side are easier to get the earlier you ask, and the details of a group booking take longer than any website's booking form allows for.

How a simp does it.

Alex was organising a family weekend away. Greg called the hotel, asked for three rooms side by side and a cot, checked the deposit with Alex in the app, and came back with every room booked.

Example call
  1. 00:02 - HotelGood morning, reservations.
  2. 00:04 - GregHi, this is Greg, an AI calling from Simp for Alex. This call is transcribed. I'd like three rooms for two nights from Friday the 6th, close together if possible, with a cot in one of them.
  3. 00:15 - HotelI have three rooms on the second floor, side by side. A cot is no problem. For three rooms we take one night's deposit.
  4. 00:24 - GregAlex asked me to check deposits with him first. One moment.
  5. 00:42 - GregAlex is happy with that. Could you email him the confirmation and a link to pay the deposit?
  6. 00:49 - HotelYes. Three rooms held under Alex Morgan, the cot is noted, and the email is on its way.

Booked - three rooms side by side, Friday the 6th for two nights, with a cot. Alex approved the deposit; the link is coming by email.

Give it the dates and the rooms. It books the stay.

Tell your simp where to call, the dates, how many rooms and anything the group needs. It never calls without your say-so, and your simp only calls between 8am and 9pm, in the time zone of the person or business it's calling. Calls to a toll-free number follow these hours in your own time zone. It asks your questions, checks with you before agreeing to anything, and sends you the details.

What it can't doIt won't agree to a deposit, a price or a payment unless you've said yes, and it books only what you asked for. You can mark any detail as sensitive, and your simp asks you every time before using it.What your simp is allowed to do

Questions about booking rooms for a group trip.

Can my simp call a hotel abroad?

Yes. Your simp can call a number in another country from your AI number, though a few countries can't be called. The call uses your AI minutes like any other, and it goes out only in the calling hours of the place it's calling.

Calling in another language
What if they want a deposit?

Your simp asks you first. It won't agree to a deposit or share card details unless you've said yes.

What your simp is allowed to do
When will it call?

When you start the call, or at the time you set: your simp only calls between 8am and 9pm, in the time zone of the person or business it's calling. Calls to a toll-free number follow these hours in your own time zone.

What your simp is allowed to do
Does it use my AI minutes?

Yes. The whole call counts towards your monthly AI minutes, time on hold included. Your simp waits on hold for up to 6 minutes, then lets you know so you can take over. You can top up in the app if you run low.

Let your simp book the rooms.

Every plan comes with a simp that books the stay and checks with you before it agrees to anything.
